Washoe County’s Department of Regional Parks and Open Space is currently working with the greater community to develop plans for the future use and preservation of this 438 acre open space area. Future plans would include a non-motorized trail system, conservation areas and other recreational uses based on public input and community resources (funding)

Along with the open space protection and excellent recreational opportunitys the area is also home to a plant species “Altered Andesite Buckwheat” which is on Washoe County’s Rare Species List and BLM’s Watch List.

No budget has been constructed for this project and ultimately it will go before the Washoe County Commission for approval and funding.
