Darrin Price appointed new General Manager of Sun Valley General Improvement District (SVGID), which will take affect later this year. The Board's decision was an easy one, both for his qualifications and their desire to promote from within. Darrin Price has been with SVGID since 1987 and has been Director of Public Works since September 1993.

“The Project from Hell”
Carla Duncan, P.E. from Shaw Engineering gave an update on “The Project from Hell” (i.e., the Interceptor project) and reviewed a video following the liner pull‑out. Carla reported “the video looked good except for the fact that the pipe was not washed prior to the video so there was a bunch of crap [Literally and Figuratively] on the bottom of the pipe.” With all the difficulties in making the repair, the board is expecting a five-year warrantee in contrast to the one year industry standard. Total project/repair cost to date $2,000,050.00.

Top 5 feet
The new 1.3 million-gallon water tank waits for property acquisition at
2805 E. Golden Valley Road and a special use permit. Meanwhile, there may be a controversy over the top 5 feet of the tank and its impact on the view shed, as expressed both at the Citizen Adversary Board (CAB) and the General Improvement District meetings. Darrin Price, SVGID Public Works Director argued that the five feet is needed to fully service the Districts full potential. It is unknown how many more hookups five feet more of height would afford.
Much of the opposition from the public was from the same person. However, there also was opposition from two CAB members. Another comment was that growth was not paying its own way having existing rate payers build infrastructure for future development.
