Red Hill Red Hill workshops scheduled for October 21st and 22nd to encourage public input about future uses and preservation of this popular open space area Red Hill is a landmark natural formation overlooking the Truckee Meadows from the north and providing spectacular views of Reno and its vicinity. Unique rock outcroppings along with a variety of desert plants and wildlife add to its attraction as a popular area for Washoe County's Department of Regional Parks and Open Space is currently working with Sun Valley residents and other community partners to develop plans for the future use and preservation of this 438 acre open space area. Future plans would include a non-motorized trail system, conservation areas and other recreational uses based on public input and community resources. In hopes of receiving as much public comment and direction as possible, a series of workshops are being offered on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22, 2011, to discuss conceptual plans and review design options. All of the following workshops will be held at the Regional Public Safety Training Center Auditorium, 5190 Spectrum Blvd. (just north of Parr Blvd.), Reno. Design Drop-In Session at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011. A "hands-on" design session to look over existing concepts and share ideas with landscape architects and design teams.
